White Sands New Mexico Elopement | Adventure Elopement Photographer
One of my biggest passions in life is to be able to adventure and travel to amazing places. When couples give me the honor of shooting their elopement or intimate wedding, it really lights the fire deep within my soul.
I love seeing new things and being out in nature. I feel like there is nothing better than being out in the wilderness. And when I get to photograph elopements while adventuring, it is the best in the world. For this one, I got to travel to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, drive through the desert for about two days in an RV, and capture the love of Malin and Chuck. It was perfect. If you are on the fence of elopeing somewhere adventurous, just do it. Seriously. I hope this will inspire you to do so.
M + C drove from Brooklyn, New York to California via an RV, with 5 friends, for a music festival and decided that on the way they would elope. Malin is from Sweden and had two of her hometown friends fly in to be a part of it. They decided that White Sands was going to be the location, which would take a few days of travel to get to.
I flew in to meet M + C straight from an Intimate Wedding in Northern California I shot the night prior. They picked me up at the airport in the desert and we had the best Mexican food I have ever had in my life for dinner. The next morning, we all drove in the RV to the County Clerks office where they would pick up their marriage certificate, and then to White Sands. The drive there was EPIC. Driving through the desert is an otherworldly experience, with all of the reds and yellows as far as the eye can see. Then all of a sudden, it looks like a small haze in the distance of white, almost like it is snowing. As you get closer and closer, the white line gets thicker and takes over the entire horizon. It looks like snow, though it is really gypsum crystals. Once we got there, we picked the spot to park then went sledding down the sand dunes and played under the sun until it was starting to set. Then, it was time for the elopement. I had such a blast with this group of people and felt so honored I got to capture their elopement in the desert with the dreamiest, strongest, sunset behind them. Not pictured because I was photographer turned guest: Reception dinner at Chili's (the only restaurant open in Alamogordo, New Mexico). Then karaoke at the only bar in the town, which eventually kicked us out because they wanted to close. What a dream.
