Private Kirkjufell Mountain Iceland Elopement in Snæfellsnes | Iceland Elopement Photographer

Jesse and Jessica’s private Kirkjufell Mountain elopement on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland was the perfect balance of laid back and low key mixed in with big-sky romance. These two were about as chill as they come—I mean, after Jessica got all gussied up, they hung out and had their morning coffee, just enjoying the sunshine and each other before heading off to finish getting ready.

Honestly, it barely felt like I was working at all and THIS is why I love my job as an Iceland Elopement Photographer and Planner so dang much! I seriously get to hang out with such rad people!

Oh! And we laughed. A lot.

J&J stayed at one of my fave places—a private cabin near Kirkjufell Mountain—which is surrounded by so much epic scenery, you can literally turn in any direction and find a mind-blowing landscape to use as a backdrop. Also, not gonna lie and pretend I didn’t do at least three happy dances when the weather stayed absolutely cooperative for the entire day. As with all seasons here, summer Iceland elopements can be hit or miss, weather-wise, but this one was so on point.

I also LOVED the wedding attire choices that Jesse & Jessica chose for their elopement. Jesse went full GQ with a slick blue suit, burgundy tie and an antique bronze rose for a boutonniere, plus some striped socks to jazz it up. And Jessica’s dress was pretty much the perfect choice for an Iceland elopement—long, with long sleeves and made out of a warm material, with just the perfect amount of lace decoration. Plus, you just gotta love a bride who wears thick socks and hiking boots under her fancy AF dress. My kinda gal!

Getting Ready for a Private Iceland Elopement

Since the cabin they were staying in was on a lake, J&J chose to do their First Look and then exchange their vows right there. And, Holy Amazing Vows, Batman! Their vows—heartfelt, funny, and completely written from a place of deep love and connection—had them both tearing up at parts and belly laughing at others. Their vow exchange left me feeling like I needed to high five them for being so dang into each other. Their love, and the dreamy light of the early morning sun that lit them up in all the right places, were pretty freaking magical.

Exchanging Vows During Their Iceland Elopement in Snæfellsnes

After they exchanged their vows, they popped some champagne and ate some of their delicious little cake.

Once we were full of cake and champagne, we wandered around the area and shot for a bit before we headed out to explore the rest of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, stopping in a few of my favourite secret places and ending up on the coast, playing at the beach.

In a nutshell, this Kirkjufell Mountain Iceland elopement was everything an Iceland Elopement Photographer and Planner gal could ask for—amazing weather, adventurous and relaxed couple, epic scenery (as per usual...this IS Iceland, after all), and a shit ton of fun and exploring.
