Reykjavik Ceremony and Snæfellsnes Iceland Elopement | Iceland Elopement Photographer & Planner

Photographing Ashley and Kevin’s Reykjavik ceremony and Snæfellsnes, Iceland elopement was an absolutely incredible experience for so many reasons.

When I think of elopement ceremonies I think of intimacy and magic intertwined. I think of a day focused solely on you and your spouse and all those tiny moments and details that mean everything to you.

This elopement was exactly that and so much more! In fact, just about every moment of their day was filled with deep meaning and tiny details that were so incredibly special to them. If you know me at all, you know this is something I care deeply about. Your wedding day is about YOU and I try my damndest to empower my couples to shape it into exactly what they have always dreamed of.

Everything, right down to the Iceland location for the elopement itself, was purposely chosen for a variety of reasons.

Ashley is from the USA while Kevin is from Scotland, but the two had a chance encounter during a Northern Lights tour in Iceland four years ago. Since that initial meeting, they have been together. (Sounds like something out of a movie, Amiright? I am swooning over here).

But the importance of this location doesn’t stop there. Did you know that Iceland is where the North American and European tectonic plates meet? That’s one from each of their homelands! How perfect is it that their elopement was on land that quite literally unites both of their continents?

The little details in this elopement were everywhere! Kevin’s kilt was made custom for the day and used his family tartan, while Ashley had a custom faux leather jacket with ‘just eloped’ painted on the back and their wedding date stitched into the collar. They also added in Mr and Mrs tin mugs and found a very special ring box that suited their personalities and vision for the day.

It isn’t too often that I get to say the groom’s elopement accessories beat the bride’s, but I’m pretty sure it happened this time around!

This adorable couple decided to get married in the botanic gardens in Reykjavik before we took off to explore the Icelandic nature, where they first fell in love. We got some incredible shots before Iceland did what it does best and decided to sneak in a bit of a storm. Well, by ‘a bit’, I actually mean a MASSIVE one. In fact, at one point I was completely soaked from the giant waves that began to roll in.

These two didn’t bat an eye, even though the wind kept trying to lift up Kevin’s kilt (and, well, the rumors are true!) These two braving the storm was totally worth it though, because the result was some amazingly dramatic photos. If you look towards the end you can see some of the wild clouds overhead.

In my humble opinion, their day was perfect and reflected the couple in every way possible. These two are just madly in love with each other which you can tell by the photos and their day.
